Review: The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo

To be completely honest. I had every intention to read more than one Christmas book this month but I don't exactly see my finishing number 2 by Christmas or even before the New Year at this point! But having The Holiday Switch be my one book for the month that was even remotely holiday themed was absolutely perfect!

The Holiday Switch is a young adult romance that takes place in Holly, New York the town is a town completely centered around Christmas Time and Christmas joy and activities. In the town is a High School Senior named Lila Santos who works at the Bookworm Inn (uhh hello dream job anyone or is it just me)? She is working here to try and earn/save a little money for her tuition to Syracuse University. Therefore asking for a few extra hours over the Christmas break from school. But in comes Teddy Rivera changing all of her plans. Teddy is the Inn owners nephew who comes up to stay with his Aunt for the holiday season. Even worse? He has taken the extra hours Lila was looking to get plus she has to train the guy!

Lila being the main character is a book reading, blog writing, Filipino American. In a world that many do not get recognized in she had her heart set on saving for College and continuing her blog in the process. But then walks in Teddy, who Lila sees as unfriendly in the beginning and is annoyed every time she is around him. This was not the enemies to lovers trope that I thought it was in the beginning when I randomly picked it off the library shelf. That is all because Lila and Teddy want to see the Bookworm Inns success even if they have to be around each other, they make the most of the situation. But then Teddy goes and tries to change Lilas free book library.

Spoiler alert but not really because this is mentioned on the back cover but Teddy and Lila end up accidentally switching phones. In most cases when the characters swap phones they are typically trying to solve each others problems and it is typically behind each others back. But this book is different. They are honest and it actually brings them closer to together and they begin to communicate not only about their problems they are facing but just life in general too. But I am going to stop there because I don't want to give too much away.

I am a huge romance reader and this book did not disappoint! It is not just romance in a couples relationship but it is also a book where families and even friendships become closer and honest with each other more than they were before!

A calming and fun read and would read it again! Easily giving it a 5 out of 5 stars!

Are you a holiday themed book reader? What are some of your favorites I should add for 2025?
